The students at James Madison College are global citizens who address and examine the major political, legal, social, and economic issues affecting our world. This video highlights the 308 students who traveled to destinations like Brussels, Amsterdam, New Delhi, and many others for their study abroad or internship programs during the 2023-24 academic year. It also underlines the college's dedication to empowering students through financial aid.

Role

  • Animated Infographic: Created an animation for the college’s social media platforms and marketing materials.

Challenge

  • Flat vs Motion Graphic: Displaying statistics in a video format required consideration of the video's length and transitions.

  • Align with MSU Brand: Illustrations and designs are needed to match the current MSU brand, as they will be posted on JMC’s social media platforms.

Approach

  • Embrace MSU Colors: By using the university’s brand colors and complementary colors, characters in the video captured the essence of an MSU student.

  • Showcase Community: The video and designs were drawn from real sources. Characters were based on students, from the outfits they wore to their interests and hobbies.

Outcome

  • High-Performing and Unique Video: This project reached ≈9,000 viewers on Instagram, which tripled JMC’s average count (2024-2025). The video was a different medium on social media platforms that positively interrupted the usual content and communicated statistics in an appealing way.
